Could the panel that will draft the Egyptian constitution possibly discuss such issues? Did Abdul Samea see by his own eyes the text of the message sent by Talawi to Katatni?

This is unbelievable. It is a catastrophe to give the husband such a right! Has the Islamic trend reached that far? Is there really a draft law in this regard? Are there people thinking in this manner?

Islam reportedly violated the girl when she was alone at the madrasa in the morning.

Her parents admitted her to upazila health complex after the girl arrived home and fell sick.

After lodging the case, the victim's mother told reporters, "I sent her to the imam to learn Arabic thinking he was a good person. But I did not know this would happen."

"It's a civil suit we have filed for which a stay order was issued this week. The judge has issued the stay order under and issued summons under the order 39 rule 1 and 2 of the Criminal Procedure Code," said Santosh Pandey, Advocate for Qasmi, who filed the suit.

Besides, India heads of companies such as Microsoft, Yahoo, Facebook, and discussion forums such as Topix, Exbii, Boardreader have been made a party by the plaintiff. ZombieTime, which carried a large archive caricatures and images of some religious figures, has also been summoned.

"About 22 companies have been made a party to it. We will take the matter politically as such content can cause riots being inflammatory to many religions," said Qasmi who claims to have pioneered issuance of Fatwas via the internet in India.

Qasmi said a local newspaper and members from various religious communities are supporting the case, and he will protest at Jantar Mantar with them, if the matter is not resolved in court and the government doesn't direct websites to pre-screen content.

On a similar issue, talks between the government and the internet companies such as Google, Facebook, Yahoo had failed earlier this month, as they declined to pre-screen or remove content which is legal but controversial.

The government which had planned to draft guidelines to remove objectionable content, made a U-turn later, and denied having any plans to regulate the internet, after pressure from the US government.

US Secretary of state Hillary Clinton came out in support of the internet companies, this month saying that regulations on the internet would be disastrous for everybody and stifle conversations and businesses.

SOURCE:
http://www.indianexpress.com/news/Taliban-cut-nursing-woman-s-breast%E2%80%93asked-others-to-eat-pieces%E2%80%93UN-backed-report/888403

Islamabad: Pakistani Taliban fighters cut the breasts of a woman who was breastfeeding her child and asked other women to eat the pieces, in a gory incident highlighted in a report on the abuse of women in the militancy-hit tribal belt bordering Afghanistan.

The incident occurred when five militants walked into a house and saw the woman breastfeeding her child, The Express Tribune quoted the report titled Impact of crisis on women and girls in FATA as saying.

The report, released by the human rights organisation Khwendo Kor (Sisters Home in Pashto) with financial support from the UN, is based on case studies of women from the tribal belt living in camps set up in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa for people displaced by militancy.

Women in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas are more susceptible to abuse in a post-conflict scenario, whether or not they are part of the conflict, the report says.

Another revelation is that women in camps were forced to have sex in exchange for food and non-food items. Girls and widows were at greater risk of such abuse.

A security officer forced me to have sex in exchange for cooking oil and pulses when I was collecting food at the main entrance of the camp,a 22-year-old woman in Jalozai camp is quoted as saying.

The surveys conducted at relief camps at Nahqai and Jalozai showed that women were uncomfortable going to toilets because men constantly lurked around.

The report said there was also an increase in honour killings in which women who were raped were murdered because rape was considered a disgrace to the family.

Forced marriages, honour killings, exchange of women between tribes and marriages with first cousins resulting in disabilities among offspring have made women very dependent, the report said.

US commission: Pakistan schools teach Hindu hatred

NOTE TO "THE POLITICALLY CORRECT" : DON'T BELIEVE A WORD OF IT UNLESS YOU FIND THE SOURCE LEGITIMATE

http://www.ndtv.com/article/world/pak-schools-teach-intolerance-of-hinduism-us-report-148232

ISLAMABAD ” Text books in Pakistani schools foster prejudice and intolerance of Hindus and other religious minorities, while most teachers view non-Muslims as "enemies of Islam," according to a study by a U.S. government commission released Wednesday.

The findings indicate how deeply ingrained hardline Islam is in Pakistan and help explain why militancy is often supported, tolerated or excused in the country.
"Teaching discrimination increases the likelihood that violent religious extremism in Pakistan will continue to grow, weakening religious freedom, national and regional stability, and global security," said Leonard Leo, the chairman of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom.

Pakistan was created in 1947 as a homeland for the Muslims of South Asia and was initially envisaged as a moderate state where minorities would have full rights. But three wars with mostly Hindu India; state support for militants fighting Soviet-rule in Afghanistan in the 1980s; and the appeasement of hardline clerics by weak governments seeking legitimacy have led to a steady radicalization of society.

Religious minorities and those brave enough to speak out against intolerance have often been killed, seemingly with impunity, by militant sympathizers. The commission warned that any significant efforts to combat religious discrimination, especially in education, would "likely face strong opposition" from hardliners.
The study reviewed more than 100 textbooks from grades 1-10 from Pakistan's four provinces. Researchers in February this year visited 37 public schools, interviewing 277 students and teachers, and 19 madrases, where they interviewed 226 students and teachers.

The Islamization of textbooks began under the U.S.-backed rule of army dictator Gen. Zia-ul-Haq, who courted Islamists to support his rule. In 2006, the government announced plans to reform the curriculum to address the problematic content, but that has not been done, the study said. Pakistan's Islamist and right-wing polity would likely oppose any efforts to change the curriculum, and the government has shown no desire to challenge them on the issue.

The report found systematic negative portrayals of minorities, especially Hindus and, to a lesser extent, Christians. Hindus make up more than 1 percent of Pakistan's 180 million people, while Christians represent around 2 percent. Some estimates put the numbers higher. There are also even smaller populations of Sikhs and Buddhists. "Religious minorities are often portrayed as inferior or second-class citizens who have been granted limited rights and privileges by generous Pakistani Muslims, for which they should be grateful," the report said. "Hindus are repeatedly described as extremists and eternal enemies of Islam whose culture and society is based on injustice and cruelty, while Islam delivers a message of peace and brotherhood, concepts portrayed as alien to the Hindu."

The books don't contain many specific references to Christians, but those that "that do exist seem generally negative, painting an incomplete picture of the largest religious minority in Pakistan," the report said. Attempts to reach Pakistan's education minister were not successful. The textbooks make very little reference to the role played by Hindus, Sikhs and Christians in the cultural, military and civic life of Pakistan, meaning a "a young minority student will thus not find many examples of educated religious minorities in their own textbooks," the report said.

"In most cases historic revisionism seems designed to exonerate or glorify Islamic civilization, or to denigrate the civilizations of religious minorities," the report said. "Basic changes to the texts would be needed to present a history free of false or unsubstantiated claims which convey religious bias. "The researchers also found that the books foster a sense that Pakistan's Islamic identity is under constant threat. "The anti-Islamic forces are always trying to finish the Islamic domination of the world," read one passage from a social studies text being taught to Grade 4 students in Punjab province, the country's most populated. "This can cause danger for the very existence of Islam. Today, the defense of Pakistan and Islam is very much in need."

The report states that Islamic teachings and references were commonplace in compulsory text books, not just religious ones, meaning Pakistan's Christians, Hindus and other minorities were being taught Islamic content. It said this appeared to violate Pakistan's constitution, which states that students should not have to receive instruction in a religion other than their own. The attitudes of the teachers no doubt reflect the general intolerance in Pakistan ” a 2011 Pew Research Center study found the country the third most intolerant in the world ” but because of the influence they have, they are especially worrisome.

Their views were frequently nuanced and sometimes contradictory, according to the study. While many advocated respectful treatment of religious minorities, this was conditional upon the attitudes of the minorities, "which appeared to be in question," the report said. The desire to proselytize was cited as one of the main motivations for kind treatment.

According to the study, more than half the public school teachers acknowledged the citizenship of religious minorities, but a majority expressed the opinion that religious minorities must not be allowed to hold positions of power, in order to protect Pakistan and Muslims. While many expressed the importance of respecting the practices of religious minorities, simultaneously 80 percent of teachers viewed non-Muslims, in some form or another, as "enemies of Islam."

pakistani Child Expelled for blasphemous Spelling Error

Theres no shortage of reminders nowadays of how dangerous Pakistan has become.

Kidnappings are rampant, suicide bombers strike crowded markets, and sectarian violence is commonplace.

Even sitting for a school exam comes with risks.

In the Pakistani village of Havelian, a Christian Grade 8 student named Faryal Bhatti has been accused of blasphemy after making a spelling mistake on a test, a miscue that has had drastic and life-changing consequences for her whole family.

Bhatti's case is the latest in a string of incidents that highlight the growing influence of radical Islamists in Pakistan, and it also serves as a reminder of the government's frequent inability or unwillingness to curb them.

We live in dangerous times, one Lahore-based scholar told the Star recently. The threat of someone accusing you of blasphemy is like the Salem witch trials. They kill you first and ask if you're guilty later.

In January, Salmaan Taseer, the governor of Pakistan's Punjab state, was assassinated by his bodyguard shot 27 times in the back after Taseer promised to repeal or at least tone down the country's blasphemy laws.

His killer, a police officer named Mumtaz Qadri, was recently sentenced to death by hanging. My dream has come true, Qadri reportedly said with a smile as the verdict was announced.

He took time to thank his judge, who, immediately after reading the verdict, took an indefinite leave of absence from his position and went into hiding.

That may sound like a good plan to the 13-year-old Bhatti.

School authorities say Bhatti recently misspelled a word in Urdu in a poem written to celebrate the Prophet Muhammad. Instead of the word Naat, which meant a poem of praise, Bhatti misplaced a letter with a dot and instead wrote the word Laanat, which means curse.

Bhatti's teacher reportedly beat her in front of her class and then referred the case to the school's principal.

As news of Bhatti's infraction spread through the village, close to Abbottabad, the city north of Islamabad where Osama bin Laden hid in plain sight for years, religious clerics rallied locals to protest in the streets.

Bhatti should be expelled, they demanded, and her family evicted from their home. Protestors chanted slogans against the student, her family, and Christianity, The Express Tribune newspaper reported. Her case was a conspiracy against Islam, clerics said in Friday sermons, according to the newspaper.

At a packed meeting of clerics, school staff and scholars, Bhatti apologized and said there was no malice in her mistake.

I am still unclear of Faryal Bhatti's intentions, Maulana Syed Ejaz Ali, a cleric from the Jamia Masjid reportedly told the meeting. The eyes filled with tears show her innocence, but her dot made the word derogatory and this is a good enough reason for a consequence and she should never in her life dare to think anything against Islam.

Bhatti was expelled. But clerics weren't done.

Local government administrators agreed to have Bhatti's mother transferred from her government job as a nurse and the family evicted from their home in a cantonment area populated by public servants.

The high-profile case has further polarized news media and religious leaders alike in nuclear-armed Pakistan.

I protest against the decision of expelling the child and transferring the mother, said Maulana Mehfooz Ali Khan, an Islamabad-based cleric. This action by the committee has printed a very negative image about Islam on the child's mind, we want the people to learn about Islam, not to make them hate it.

Several English-language newspapers decried the case. Shyema Sajjad, a deputy editor with Dawn newspaper, wrote in a blog posting that Bhatti's case is a reminder of the new realities facing Pakistanis.

Tolerance and respect are two virtues that were kidnapped a long, long time ago, they remain missing even today, Sajjad wrote.

But who is going to point these things out? The government's too busy fighting international threats to focus on the internal ones breeding throughout the country. The few who do take a stand are shot down and although they might not be forgotten, their sacrifices often are. We cause a hue and cry about educating our children and spreading awareness but who needs this education if all it does is create hatred and differences?

source: http://www.thestar.com/news/world/article/1067390--pakistani-child-expelled-for-blasphemous-spelling-error

Muslims call it marriage. I call it rape

This is the story of Muhammad's marriage with Safiyah,

Safiyah was a beautiful 17 years old Jewish woman who was captured when Muhammad's troops raided Kheibar. She was the daughter or Huyeiy Ibn Akhtab, the chief of the Banu Nadir, a Jewish tribe of Medina , whom Muhammad had beheaded two years earlier along with the men of Banu Quriaza. The tribe of Banu Nadir had been already banished from Medina and their properties were confiscated.

Safiyah had married her cousin Kinana, who was a young Jewish leader of Kheibar. When Muhammad raided that fortress, he killed its unarmed men and captured the rest. A Jewish traitor, (reminds me of Noam Chomsky) to gain Muhammad's favor and be spared from death, told him that Kinana was the treasurer of the town and that he used to hide the money in some ruins. Muhammad ordered Kinana to be tortured to reveal the whereabouts of the treasures and killed him.

Then he asked the prettiest woman from amongst that captives to be brought to him. Ibn Ishaq writes: "The apostle occupied the Jewish forts one after the other, taking prisoners as he went. Among these were Safiya, the wife of Kinana, the Khaibar chief, and two female cousins: [sisters of Kinana] the apostle chose Safiya for himself. The other prisoners were distributed among the Muslims. Bilal brought Safiya to the apostle, and they passed the bodies of several Jews on the way. Safiya's female companions lamented and strewed dust on their heads. When the apostle of AllÃh observed this scene, he said, 'Remove these she devils from me.' But he ordered Safiya to remain, and threw his reda [cloak] over her. So the Muslims knew he had reserved her for his own. The apostle reprimanded Bilal, saying, 'Hast thou lost all feelings of mercy, to make women pass by the corpses of their husbands?'

Safiyah was taken to Muhammad's tent. Muhammad wanted to have sex with her on that very night, only hours after torturing to death her husband. She resisted his advances. That night Abu Ayyub al-Ansari guarded the tent of Muhammad. When, in the early dawn, Muhammad saw Abu Ayyub strolling up and down, he asked him what he meant by this sentry-go; he replied: "I was afraid for you with this young lady. You had killed her father, her husband and many of her relatives, I was really afraid for you on her account". (Ibn Ishaq, p. 766)

The next day Muhammad covered Safiyah with his mantle, an act signifying that she is now his. Safiyah was groomed and made-up for Muhammad by Umm Sulaim, the mother of Anas ibn Malik and was taken to Muhammad who married her in a mock marriage ceremony and raped her that night. Muslims call this marriage. I call that rape. I am certain not many young women would like to jump into bed with an old man who happens to be the murderer of their father and husband and many other relatives. That poor woman had no choice; therefore that marriage was nothing but a mockery of this sacred institution. At that time Muhammad was close to sixty years old.

Injustice by Admanya

Hi friends, Bigman wishes you a fabulous New Year.

Long back i had uploaded a photo in the photo blog section which attracted hundreds of curious bloggers from across the world wide web. yes I am talking about the famous photo titled " religious ritual in a bangladesi mosque " A hindu being beaten up.......... , which attracted a host of other websites and discussion forums. The link to this photo blog was shared in top news channels like Reuters blog and social websites like facebook. It has a record clicks of 5310 so far (I bet the nearest has not even 500 clicks) in this forum. It was a controversial topic being looked at from many perspectives. People with certain biases and their opposite thinkers along with neutral participants, all shared their opinion and made it a hot discussion. This was perhaps the first of its kind in Admanya forum which created a lot of news and helped Admanya increase its Alexa web ranking for some time. It also resulted in the creation of DUMMY id's and fake members which was opposed by the active members of Admanya (The Admaniacs).

I was asked to remove this photo by some Admaniacs. My Idea behind uploading this photo was to discuss the matter and make the right use of " Freedom of Expression ". The critics of Islam have systematically been silenced through out the history by either threatening or killing them. Now with the power of Internet we can spread the word and pour some light on the issue and we can scrutinize it from all the angles.

It's time to call an Axe, an Axe. I have admired Admanya in the past for their courageous support despite being pressurized by some members to remove this photo blog. I sincerely thank the team for all the support, But, the thing which is making me worried is that the photo blog does not appear under the most viewed section anymore. I find no valid reason for this injustice as the photo that replaces it has just got about 100 clicks or so. I hereby request the techies in the back office to act responsible and do The Just.

Admanya Rocks!

The future of ADMANYA ????

I think that admanya has a long way to go to become the best consumer networking site. The features are good and there's is a lot of activity, but a major portion of the web page is taken away by advertisements.only a strip in the middle of the page is dedicated to
admanyacs. This is really sad. Is admanya in such a hurry to make money?

Do u find a single ad on orkut? now a days u do but only on the top right corner of the home page. and it never catches your attention unless you want to give it some. So my advice is wait till you get some attention and the money will follow you.

look at twitter, facebook, orkut, linkedin, skype

they are popular because they give people a personal space to keep things that people want to keep and not forced on them.

colorful fonts and themes are the other attractions, that admanya should come up with.

the photo uploading feature Sucks !!!!! image cropping is not there and the uploaded image doesn't completely fit into the frame

Admanya should think from the current/present day user's point of view.

When orkut was brought to the use of public they literally had no competition and they built it in such a way that google has become the benchmark, And whenever a new social networking site comes up people just start comparing it with google and evaluating it accordingly.

What i mean to say is - users have clear expectations. Learn the expectations and live up to it. I as an admanyac want to see admanya at the top position. I am saying all this as a well wisher. No offense.
